MULTAN: Agriculture department is continuing to collect soil samples from across Punjab for analysis to extend proper and need-based advisories to farmers for enhanced per acre yield.
Punjab Agriculture Secretary Muhammad Mehmood said that 592,000 soil samples would be collected, says a release issued by media liaison unit of Punjab Agriculture department on Monday.
He said that the government of Punjab had allocated Rs 4.34 billions for this five year project. He said that soil fertility laboratories would be upgraded under this project. He said that motorcycles and smart phones had been provided to field staff of the department to improve their outreach to farmers.
He said that increase in production was expected through soil analysis and subsequent application of latest agricultural technology.
